Durante la última primavera en la ciudad de Nueva York, Eric Clapton organizó por 4ta. Vez un evento sin precedentes y con una alineación de primer nivel, reuniendo a algunos de los más grandes guitarristas de nuestra época en la nueva versión del legendario Crossroads Guitar Festival. Mientras que los 3 festivales previos fueron realizados en estadios al aire libre. Este año Clapton decidió llevar el festival al Madison Square Garden y muy pronto podrán revivir los mejores momentos de ese par de noches épicas, llenas de virtuosismo en una colección de audio y video que saldrán a la venta el mes de Noviembre a nivel mundial.
Este festival toma lugar cada 3 años desde el 2004, El Crossroads Guitar Festival se ha convertido rápidamente en el evento de guitarristas más importante del mundo, en donde los más grandes exponentes se reúnen para recabar fondos para el Crossroads Centre en Antigua, Guatemala. Clapton fundó esta institución en 1998 para ayudar a personas con fármaco dependencia.
Este año, el show contó con las participaciones de artistas como: Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers Band, Blake Mills, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, Gary Clark Jr., Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Keith Richards, Keith Urban, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Sonny Landreth, Steve Cropper, Vince Gill, Warren Haynes y muchos más.
CROSSROADS GUITAR FESTIVAL 2013 estará disponible a partir del 19 de Noviembre en 3 formatos diferentes: 2 Blue Rays, 2 DVD que incluyen más de 5 horas en 45 tracks, además de conversaciones con los artistas involucrados en la causa y escenas detrás de cámaras que siempre resultan en un deleite.
Por primera vez en la historia, este concierto estará disponible en audio únicamente en un format de 2 CD’s que incluirán 32 tracks. El audio estará disponible en formato digital del mismo modo.
Como era de esperarse, Clapton ofrece una actuación espectacular quién junto a su banda, interpreta temas como: “Tears In Heaven”. El legendario guitarrista además interpreta temas de su tiempo con Derek and the Dominos como el clásico: “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad” junto a los Allman Brothers Band. El primer Crossroads Guitar Festival se llevó a cabo el año 2004 en el estadio Cotton Bowl de la ciudad de Dallas y reunió a los mejores guitarritas de todos los géneros como el blues, rock y de la música contemporánea. El show fue un Sold Out absoluto y grabado para ser presentado en un Doble DVD que al día de hoy, se considera como uno de los más vendedores de la historia, consiguiendo reconocimientos por 10 Discos de Platino tan solo en los Estados Unidos. El otro par de colecciones consiguieron reconocimientos similares en ventas y en la crítica en general. La colección del 2007 fue certificada con 6 discos de Platino, mientras que la versión 2010 obtuvo 4 discos de platino.
